Citizen Police Academy
Citizen Police Academy & Alumni Association
The Citizen Police Academy provides an opportunity for individuals who live and work in the Town of Palm Beach to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the police department. The Academy is your opportunity to better understand the operations, mission and vision of the Palm Beach Police Department and, since the instructors are all department staff members, you will have the opportunity to get to know the people who make up the Palm Beach Police Department. The Citizen Police Academy is our opportunity to demonstrate our level of commitment to the community. We invite you to take part in what we know will be an enjoyable and productive experience.
The program takes place on six consecutive afternoons from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. A graduation ceremony and alumni reunion will immediately follow the sixth class.
In addition, participants are expected to take part in a two-hour “ride-along” with a police officer, a two-hour “sit-in” with the Communications Center and a two-hour “ride-along” with the Marine Unit. All of these are on your own time and in addition to the weekly sessions. Participation in the Citizen Police Academy requires attendance at all six sessions.
