Fire-Rescue Chief & Director of Emergency Management Sean Baker

Sean BakerChief Sean Baker has had a distinguished career in the Palm Beach Fire-Rescue Department for 25 years. Starting as a firefighter in 1999, Chief Baker has risen through the ranks to become the Fire Rescue Chief, effective January 26, 2024. He has held various operational positions, including Driver/Engineer, Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, Division Chief of Training and Safety, Division Chief of EMS, and Public Information Officer. His career highlights his exceptional skills, leadership qualities, and commitment to serving the community.   

    

Sean has garnered numerous accolades throughout his journey, including nominated as the Palm Beach Fire Rescue Firefighter of the Year, being named Palm Beach Employee of the Year in 2018, praised for his integrity, innovative thinking, compassion, and community outreach, The Palm Beach Civic Association's Bob Wright Award, The Palm Beach Civic Association's Raymond J. Kunkle Award, and the Wright Award for Leadership in recognition of his stewardship of the public well-being during the Covid-19 pandemic, and finally the People's Choice Award from the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation. 


Chief Baker is a member of the International Fire Chiefs Association (IAFC), the Florida Fire Chiefs Association (FFCA), and the Palm Beach County Fire Chief's Association. He is the Treasurer for the EMS Providers of Palm Beach County. He passionately engages with local organizations, leaving no stone unturned to advocate for Palm Beach Fire Rescue and address the community's pressing needs. His presence is felt within prominent community groups, including the Civic Association, Citizens Association, the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation, and finally serving as a Town of Palm Beach United Way Board member, with previous service on their allocation committee, highlighting his commitment to professional development and community welfare.   

    

His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and an Associate's in Emergency Medical Services. Sean's commitment to growth is further evident through his training at the prestigious National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and completion of the FFCA's Emergency Services Leadership Institute (ESLI) program; Sean Baker's career is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and continuous pursuit of excellence in fire rescue services.
